SAMBA, Oct 21: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) activists today staged a massive protest against the opening of Sarore Toll Plaza and torched the effigy of Union Minister of Surface Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari at Vijaypur.
The protest was led by former Minister and (JKNPP) chairman, Harshdev Singh. Many leaders and local people participated in the protest. They included former Minister, Yashpal Kundal. Harshdev Singh while speaking to media persons on the occasion, said that today’s protest is against the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party Government at Delhi.
He said that the way in which Toll Plazas are being installed one after the other they (BJP Government) are fleecing the poor people. He said that before this, when the Bharatiya Janata Party was in opposition, this Toll Plaza was forcibly uprooted and BJP termed it a Jaziya on the people and pilgrims visiting holy shrines of Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath Ji.
Harshdev alleged that the leaders who broke this Toll Plaza are now calm as it has been installed by their own Government which is in power at Centre.
Apart from this Toll Plazas are also being set up within Jammu and a strategy is being adopted to establish one Toll Plaza in Raj Bagh area of Kathua district, Ring Road, Akhnoor Road and Lower Munda in Kashmir valley. This way Jammu the City of Temples will be transferred into the city of Toll Plazas, he said.
He termed the installation of Toll Plazas as a type of `Kesri Jaziya’ and warned that NPP will resist it tooth and nail. Harshdev accused the BJP of playing with the sentiments of the people of Jammu and warned that they will given a befitting reply in the coming time.
