JAMMU, Apr 19: General body meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA) was held under the chairmanship of its president S Rangil Singh at GOs Police Mess, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The State Sports Associations affiliated to J&K Olympic Association which attended the meeting included J&K Archery Association, J&K Amateur Athletic Association, J&K Motor Sports Association, J&K Badminton Association, J&K Baseball Association, J&K Amateur Boxing Association, J&K Billiard & Snooker Association, J&K Cycling Association, J&K Basketball Association, J&K Gymnastic Association, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, J&K Judo Association, J&K Kabaddi Association, J&K Kho Kho Association, J&K Kick-Boxing Association, J&K Rope Skipping Association, J&K Lawn Tennis Association, J&K Table-Tennis Association, J&K Golf-Association, J&K Rifle Association, J&K Rugby Association, J&K Weightlifting Association, J&K Roller Skating Association, J&K Wrestling Association, J&K Wushu Association, J&K Yoga Association and Volleyball Association of J&K.
The meeting decided to honour the medallists who brought laurels to the State by winning gold, silver and bronze medals in the 35th National Games held at Kerala in 2015.
All the members expressed their views about the cash prize, shawls and mementoes to be presented to the winners for their performance and it was decided to organize colourful function as early as possible and all the members were of the view to present cash awards to the tune of Rs one lakh to the gold Medallists, Rs 50,000 to the silver medallists, Rs. 31, 000 to the bronze medallists and 21,000 each to the coaches.
J&K Basketball Association was asked to hold fresh election, inviting observer from J&K Sports Council, J&K Olympic Association and Basketball Federation of India.
The members also decided to hold the election of J&K Olympic Associations in the last week of May 2015 and it was decided to constitute a committee to give the final shape to the medal ceremony.
President was authorized to nominate the committee members.
