JAMMU, Apr 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Police today accorded a warm send off to J&K’s talented woman cricketer Jasia Akthar for participation in the forthcoming BCCI’s 1st Edition of Women’s IPL Tournament to be played at Jaipur in Rajasthan from April 6, 2019.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, MK Sinha while wishing Jaisia all success wished her good luck on behalf of the DGP and all ranks and file of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“It’s a matter of great pride for us that Jaisia will be representing the team in the prestigious BCCI’s 1st Edition of 3-Team IPL tournament. She has consistently performed well and is an inspiration to other women players,” Mr Sinha said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jasia scored 4 fifties in the One-Dayers and 3 in T20s, with a healthy average of 38.34 in the BCCI organised tournaments last season.
She also won the women of the series trophy in the prestigious CM ‘S T20 Cricket Cup organised by JKP and State Sports Council under the overall supervision of DGP Dilbagh Singh last year.
She also participated in many other sports initiatives of JKP organised under the Civic Action Programme.
Jasia extended thanks to JKP for providing her various platforms and tournaments that helped her to develop skill.
She also thanked the Department of Youth Services and Sports for picking and guiding her to hone skill in the early stage of her career.
Jasia will be part of Trail Blazers which is being led by talented Indian cricketer Smriti Mandana.
In a chat with EXCELSIOR on the sidelines of the function, Jasia said that her ultimate goal is to wear the Indian Jersy by representing the country.
Ranjeet Kalra, Advisor Sports and Youth Affairs to Lt. Governor of Lakshadweep and Member JKCA; Rajesh Sharma, Staff Officer to IGP; Rajesh Dhar, Senior Cricketer, Member JKCA and Senior Journalist; Rajesh Gill, Former Ranji Trophy Cricketer and Chief Prosecuting Officer were also present on the occasion.
