JAMMU, Dec 3: On the directions of Additional Director General of Police Armed J&K, S.M Sahai, a joint meeting of J&K State sports associations and coaches of Jammu and Kashmir Police teams was today convened by IGP Armed APHQ, Mukesh Singh, here at Armed Police Headquarters.
The meeting was convened to improve coordination between Police and sports associations of the State, speed up developments, improve performance of players and promote different Sports across the State.
The members of different sports associations put forth their agendas and suggestions to improve the sports culture in the State. The associations favoured the implementation of Sports Policy and suggested that separate quota should be reserved for the sports personnel in recruitment drives. In order to improve the performance of Police teams, the associations suggested that they be co-opted as members of J&K Police Sports board for technical suggestions.
The IGP Mukesh Singh said the Jammu and Kashmir Police are already providing training to youth of the State for better results in the National and International Championships. “The organisation is on the mission to explore and search the talent in far-off areas to produce Olympians and Arjun awardees from the State, this mission can only be fulfilled with support of the associations”, he added.

J&K Weightlifting Association, K K Gupta General Secretary J&K Kabaddi Association, Sudhir Kumar General Secretary J&K Shooting Association, Raju Sharma (wrestling association), Virendar Pal Singh( Basket Ball Association), S S Gill ( Boxing Association of J&K), , Kuldeep Handoo Sports officer J&K Police and Imran Iqbal coordinator Sports.
