JKP organizes volleyball, cricket matches

JAMMU, June 19:  In connection with raising day celebrations of Jammu and Kashmir Police, several sports and allied activities were held by District Police Kathua and Kishtwar in their respective districts today.
Kishtwar Police apart from conducting traffic awareness among the drivers, passengers and locals of the area at Drabshalla, organized a friendly cricket match at Gulabgarh, Padder today.
The match was played between Police Eleven and Sazar Eleven. Police Eleven scored 173 runs in the  allotted 16 overs. Constable Rahul scored 55 runs and was declared man of the match, while SDPO Atholi contributed 49 runs. Tashi Rigzin took 4 wickets for Police Eleven.
Kishtwar Police also organized cricket match between Galhar Eleven and Hansward Eleven which was easily won by the former.
Meanwhile, under the supervision of Mohan Lal, SP Kathua, a final volleyball matches was played between the teams of Hiranagar and Gurha Mundian at Sports Stadium Hiranagar. A total of 4 teams of Volleyball Club Bobiya, Mella, Hiranagar and Gurha Mudian participated in the tournament.
Gurha Mudian won the final match. SDPO Border, Chadwal presented the trophies to the winners and the runners-up teams.
Large numbers of local people witnessed the final match. SDPO Border, Chadwal addressed the gathering and said that this is the step towards encouraging the youth for sports activities and keeping them away from various abuses like drugs etc.
In continuation to a week-long celebration of J&K Police Raising Day under the supervision Mohan Lal, SP Kathua, a final volleyball match was played between Dewal Club and Mandli Club at Billawar.
4 teams including Billawar, Mandli, Dewal and Kotli participated in the Tournament. Dewal won the final match. The SHO P/S Billawar presented trophies to the winners and runners-up teams during the prize distribution ceremony.
