JKP prudent in honing sports talent: DGP

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Director General of Police, (DGP) Ashok Prasad has said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has always remained on forefront in polishing the talent of the youth in sports arena saying the Organisation has been carrying out various activities for the development of the youth besides discharging its professional duties.
Prasad was addressing the closing ceremony of Jashan-e-Dal, a water sports festival, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police, at Nehru Park here this evening. The festival was held in the world famous Dal Lake. Various aquatic games including Open Kashmir Marathon Shikara Race were the part of the festival.
The DGP said that Civic Action Programme has been introduced by the Organisation with the aim to provide benefits to the civil society by undertaking different activities.
Prasad disclosed that various events were played during the 3-day long Jeshan including water polo, Kayak & Canoeying, Swimming, Shikara race, dragon boat race, demb boat race and open marathon Shikara race.
Earlier, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed, S.M.Sahia threw light on the activities carried during the 3-day long Jashan-e-Dal. He said that the performance of the participants was adjudged by a designated jury and prizes decided for distribution among the winners.
On the occasion, Prasad distributed the prizes among the winners in different disciplines.
Among others, the function was attended by senior police officers and people belonging to sports fraternity.
