JKP seals berth in football finals

SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) team prevailed over JKSPDC XI in the semifinal to make it to the finals of the ongoing State Bank of India Knockout Football Tournament, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, here.
Earlier, Gulzar of PDC netted a beautiful goal to give his side an early lead, but Sandeep Sharma from J&K Police scored an equalizer in the 49th minute. The match ended in tie in the stipulated time and it was decided via tie-breaker.
In another match, registering a thrilling win via tie-breaker in a close contest in quarterfinals, strong Food and Supplies team got better of formidable J&K Forest team to qualify for the semifinals.
It was Amir from Food and Supplies who scored the first goal in 6th minute of the game, while Shahid from J&K Forest scored an equalizer in 20th minute and helped his team to increase the lead by one goal by pelting another goal via penalty kick in 30th minute. Aijaz Parvez scored an equalizer for Food and Supplies in 36th minute and the match ended in (2-2) tie in the stipulated time, wherein Food and Supplies prevailed over the rivals and made it into the semifinals.
