JKP takes on Delhi XI in Eid-Diwali Milan Cup final

JAMMU, Nov 1: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI and Delhi XI defeated their rivals in the semifinals of the ongoing Eid-Diwali Milan Cup T20 Cricket Tournament today and will face each other in the summit clash to be held at MA Stadium, here tomorrow.
Minister for Sports and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Minister for Housing and Horticulture, Raman Bhalla inaugurated the semifinals in a simple but well attended function by interacting with the players and having toss of coin.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ministers lavished praise on the organizers for holding this mega event which involves 6 teams from outside the State, besides top teams from Jammu.
They said sportspersons are always the messengers of peace and organizing tournaments on the names of festivals like Eid-Diwali Milan Cup is a step forward in bringing peace and harmony through these messengers.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, JKP defeated Chandigarh XI by 57 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, JKP scored 170 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Rompy Sharma was the top scorer with 41 runs, while Pankaj Ladda and Farooq contributed 37 and 36 runs to the total respectively. RK Bhat and Rajesh Gill chipped in with 13 and 10 runs respectively. For Chandigarh XI, Rinku took 3 wickets, while Ravinder and Anil claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Chandigarh XI bundled out for 113 runs to lose the match by 57 runs. Anil was the top scorer for Chandigarh who contributed 55 runs, Ravi and Lalit scored 15 and 11 runs respectively. Rajesh Gill was pick of the bowlers for JKP XI, scalping 4 important wickets, while Vishal Singh Bhau and Rompy Sharma claimed 2 and 1 wicket respectively. Rajesh Gill was adjudged man of the match.
In another quarterfinal, Delhi XI clinched a thrilling 1-run win over Simula XI to sail into the semifinals. Batting first, Delhi scored a fighting total of 148 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Abhishek Choudhary and Aamir Malik scored 28 runs each, while Abhishek Sharma and Nishant Rana contributed 24 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For Simula XI, Nitin Mehra captured 4 wickets, while Vivek Thapa claimed 2 wickets. Hilal Rather and Deepak Singh Manhas shared one wicket each.
Simula XI, in reply fell short of 1 run as it managed to scored 147 runs. Sameer Khajuria top scored with 31 runs, while Atul, Hilal Rather and Deepak Singh Manhas contributed 21, 19 and 13 runs to the total respectively. For Delhi XI, Anuj Choudhary bagged 3 wickets, while Ankit Choudhary and Subodh Rathi took 2 wickets each and Abhishek claimed one.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, JD Singh, Farooq and Amit Sharma as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma was the scorer.
