JKP team emerges winner in State Wrestling C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 25: J&K Police Wrestling team won the team Championship after securing 20 medals, with 9 Gold, 6 Silver and 5 Bronze medals, while Jammu district secured 2nd position in the 24th Men and 10th Women J&K State Wrestling Championship-2019 held at Patyali Chak, here.
The Championship was organized by J&K State Wrestling Association in the rural part of Jammu District to give fillip to wrestling in rural areas of the State.
SSP Dushyant Sharma, President J&K Olympic Association and President of J&K Wrestling Association was the chief guest on the closing ceremony, who along with Ajay Vaid, guest of honour,
distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dushyant said that holding the event in the rural areas of Jammu district will help the young wrestlers of rural areas of the State to participate at State/National level.
He lauded the efforts of J&K Police team for emerging champions.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Vijay Palhwan (Senior Vice President J&K Wrestling Association, Raju Sharma, Treasurer J&K State Wrestling Association, Anshuman Sharma and Om Prakash.
The wrestlers who bagged gold medals in different categories included Ajay Bharit (Jammu District), Sukhvinder Singh (Jammu District), Nadeem Ahmed (Doda), Roshan Sharma (JKP), Diler Khan (JKP), Renu Devi (Jammu District), Kusium Rani (Jammu District), Jarnail Singh (Reasi District), Sunil Singh (Jammu District) and Sunny Sharma (JKP).
