JKP Wrestler Benia lifts 53rd Sujandhar Kesari Dangal title

KATRA, Sept 4: Wrestler Benia Min of Jammu and Kashmir Police lifted 53rd annual Sujandhar Dangal title by defeating Wrestler Vikas of Haryana in the main first malli bout that lasted for 12 minutes at Village Sujandhar in Tehsil Bhomag of District Reasi here today. He was awarded with a cash amount of Rs 61,000 along with traditional Gurj and Mata Ki Chunari, while runner-up wrestler Vikas got Rs 50,000.
Dangal was organized by Shri Nag Devta Mela and Dangal Committee Sujandhar under the overall supervision of Prem Singh (President), Devinder Singh (General Secretary), Tej Singh and Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu).
DDC Chairman Saraf Singh Nag was the chief guest on the occasion. Former Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. BDC Chairman, Ashok Singh and Social activist Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu) were the guests of honour. The bouts were officiated by Mohd. Nazir, Pawan Singh, Kartar Singh, Anil Kumar and Sunny Sharma.
There were 70 bouts played in a day-long dangal. Shiv Kumar Sharma, President of the Senior Citizen Welfare Forum Katra honoured a prominent social activist Sarban Singh of Village Sujandhar (Age 80 years old senior most person of the area who witnessed the dangal.
The 2nd malli bout was won by Dillar Khan of J&K Police who defeated Babba of Kot Bhalwal Jammu while 3rd bout was won by Yuv Raj of Raja Mandali Akhara Jammu who defeated Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal. The 4th bout was won by Yudhbir of Delhi who defeated Laikat Ali of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu and 5th bout was won by Amir Khan of J&K Police who defeated Billa of Jammu.
The others results were Sanjay of J&K Police beat Chand of Jammu, Anil Kumar of Reasi beat Arjun of Jammu, Chain Singh of Roun Domail beat Akshay of Delhi, Vijay of Moungri beat Rajesh of Talwara, Love of Domana beat Sahil of Nawshera.
