JKP XI lifts Pawan Memorial T20 title

AKHNOOR, July 13: Defeating Singh Challengers Akhnoor by 32 runs in the summit clash, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI lifted the title trophy of the 5th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor, under the supervision of its chairman, Sham Singh Langeh at Government Higher Secondary School Grounds, here today.
District president rural PDP, Thakur Suram Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion, while DN Abrol and Rachpal Singh Langeh were the guests of honour.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, JKP XI scored 164 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Naresh Kumar, Pankaj Ladda and Ashwani Kotwal contributed 45, 40 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For Singh Challenger Club, Pankaj Kumar and Gimmy Mani bagged 2 wickets each, while Vikram Singh claimed one.
In reply, Singh Challenger Club, bundled out for 133 runs in 18.3 overs, thus lost the match 32 runs. Pankaj Sharma was the top scorer with 42 runs, while Vinod and Abitash Sharma contributed 20 runs each. For JKP XI, Anshuman, Rajesh Gill and Naresh took 2 wickets each, RK Bhat, Majid and Ashwani claimed one wicket each.
Naresh Kumar was adjudged man of the match, while Ashwani Kotwal was declared man of the series. The winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 10,000 alongwith a trophy and individual prizes by the chief guest on the occasion, while the runners-up team was given a cash prize of Rs 5000 and a trophy.
