JKRCEA criticizes Law Department for misinterpreting ‘status quo’

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 28: Coming down heavily on the Law Department of J&K Government for grossly misinterpreting the ‘status quo’ granted by the Supreme Court in the SLP filed by reserved categories, challenging the J&K High Court Divisional Bench verdict of October 9, 2015 on reservation in promotion, the Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Employees Association (JKRCEA), a frontal organization of reserved categories of J&K State has requested the Governor of J&K State and Chief Secretary for personal intervention.
During a meeting of executive body of JKRCEA held here today under the chairmanship of its President, Dr. Sanjay Bhasin, the leaders have alleged that many bureaucrats have discriminatory attitude towards these downtrodden sections of the society and misinterpretation of Status quo order of Supreme Court is the live example to this.
Dr. Sanjay Bhasin, while speaking on the occasion said that despite the fact that State Govt. was also a party in this case where its own Reservation Act and rules were challenged by private party, the govt. earlier miserably failed in defending its own legislation and when the aggrieved from amongst the reserved categories were granted interim relief by Apex Court in the form of Status quo, few bureaucrats sitting at the helms of affairs are showing utter biasness by misinterpreting the status quo which is totally against the interest of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Resident of Backward Areas (RBA) and Actual Line of Control (ALC) categories people.
He added that this misinterpretation of an order of Supreme Court is sheer illegal and in case all other departments of Jammu & Kashmir Govt. would adopt this interpretation as done by Law Department, it would exhibit the mockery of the whole system.
Dr Zabeer Ahmed, general secretary of JKRCEA while speaking on the occasion lashed out at State Govt. for their policies towards SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories. He accused that the reserved categories remained deprived and neglected sections of society during all regimes.
RC Bhasin, Fareed Ahmed Choudhary, Gagan Jyoti, Bavinder Kundal,  Joginder Paul, Raj Kumar Samyal, Romeshwar Kumar, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Roshan Din Choudhary, M.R.Bangotra, Sanjay Bhagat, Surinder Dewgowda, Romesh Kumar, Tara Chand, Sunil Thapa  and Prof. Kali Dass, were prominent among others who spoke on the occasion.
