JAMMU, June 6: In a major achievement, Vishal Thappar, an ace Sabre Fencer of J&K has been selected for Senior Asian Fencing Championship to be held at Kuwait. The Championship will be held from June 22 to 25.
As per statement, Vishal Thappar International Fencer once again showed his class of Sabre a fencing technique and fitness during trials for Senior Asian Championship at New Delhi. He was selected on the basis of his outstanding performance during the last senior National Fencing Championship by winning the Individual bronze Medal.
Pertinent to mention that Vishal Thappar is presently working with Indian Navy as Chief Petty Officer recruits Under Sports quota from J&K and a Khelo India Athlete and practising at NCOE Patiala. Vishal Thappar has earned many medals at the national and international platforms.
Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull has congratulated Vishal Thappar and has extended best wishes to his parents for this achievement.
International Fencer Rashid Ahmed Choudhary termed it a proud moment and extended wishes to fencer for the prestigious events expressing hope that Vishal will make the country proud at the international platform. Meanwhile, senior fencing coach, J&K Sports Council, Rachna Jamwal, Instructor Shotu Lal Sharma, Adv. Supriya Chouhan and Maninder Pal Singh alongwith all the fencing fraternity wished best of luck to Vishal Thapar.
