J&K’s Amit, Kartavya in Indian Wushu team for IWUF World C’ship

JAMMU, Dec 12: Amit Kumar and Kartavya Verma, two promising Wushu athletes from Jammu & Kashmir, are part of the 8-member Indian contingent competing at the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) World Wing-Chun Championship in Foshan, China. The championship is scheduled from December 11 to 16. Both athletes were selected for this prestigious event based on their performances at the National Championships and the selection trials held at KIC Meerut.
Amit Kumar, a National Medallist in the senior division, and Kartavya Verma, a National Medallist in the sub-junior division, are representing India on this international stage.
J&K Wushu Association President, Vijay Saraf, along with Senior Vice President Ranjeet Kalra and General Secretary Bhavneet, congratulated the athletes and wished them success. Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo also praised the athletes and expressed gratitude to the J&K Sports Council and Sports Authority of India for their support. Kartavya Verma, a product of the Khelo India Centre in Jammu, is a prime example of the region’s thriving sports development programs.
