J&K’s Chess champ Soham Kamotra sparkles

JAMMU, May 29: Soham Kamotra of J&K gave scintillating performance in just concluded National Blitz Chess Championship at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar by scoring 8 points out of 11 rounds.
He won 7 games, drew two and lost two. He beat one Grandmaster and one International Master and also drew with one Grandmaster and one International Master. He also defeated one FIDE Master.
He finished at joint 3rd position with 8 points alongwith seven other players but due to Buckloz tie breaker rules he was declared 8th.
The players from 23 States participated in National Rapid and Blitz including 7 Grandmasters and many International Masters.
In rapid section he was unlucky to miss prize list due to walkover in the first round. He is a trainee of Vivek Chess Academy. The members of AJKCA today honoured Soham Kamotra and his coach Vivek in a function held at Nek  Hotel, here.
