JAMMU, July 3: Meenal Gupta of J&K have won the silver medal in commonwealth chess championship 2018 in U-16 girls age category. Total 730 players from 15 countries participated in 16 different categories of boys and girls.event was held at 5 Star Leela Hotel New Delhi.
Earlier, also she had won the Gold medal in U-14 girls age category in commonwealth in 2016 at srilanka. She is also recipient of state award and sher- e Kashmir award.she is trained by Mr.vivek bharti.she is student of 11th class in Jodhamal public school.
Joint secretary J&K Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Chief Sports officer Abdul Qyaoom besides member of All J&K Chess Association and other officers of J&K Government have congratulated Meenal Gupta for this historic medal.
