J&K’s Prinkle Singh enters semis of CLTA-AITA Championship

CHANDIGARH, July 19: J&K’s Tennis sensation, Prinkle Singh sealed berth in Under-18 girls singles semifinals, while Chandigarh Academy of Rural Tennis (CHART) trainee Shashikant Rajput advanced into the boys under-18 as well as Under-16 singles semi-finals of the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament at Tennis Stadium here today.
In girls under-18 singles quarterfinals, top seed Prinkle Singh of Jammu and Kashmir defeated 8th seed Srishty Ray in a three setter match 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Another CLTA trainee Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa upset 4th seed Harleen Kaur in a straight set 6-4, 6-3. Another big upset was that Sandeepti Singh Rao defeated 2nd seed Kaavya Sawhney in a three setter match 3-6, 6-0, 6-0.
Top seed Shashikant Rajput defeated 5th seed Krish Patel in straight sets in the boys under-16 singles quarter-final. Shashikant won the 1st set 6-4, in the 2nd set both players played consistently and held their serve till 5-5. In the 11 games Shashikant broke Krish Patel serve and serving for the match. Finally Shashikant used his experience and use of his variation to close set and match 7-5. Other CHART trainees 2nd seed Krishan Hooda and 4th seed Naresh Badgujar also moved into semifinals. Naresh Badgujar defeated Tushar Madan in a straight set 6-3, 6-4.
In boys under-18 singles quarterfinals top seed CLTA trainee Calvin Golemei defeated Adity Balesekar in a easy match 6-0, 6-4. Krish Patel defeated Tushar Madan in a three setter marathon match 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
In girls under-16 singles Quarterfinals, CHART trainee sponsored by Govt. of Punjab 3rd seed Simran Pritam defeated Lagan Bidhan 6-3, 7-6(0). Richa Chougule, Konika Singh Dhull and Sandeepti Singh Rao advance into semifinals.
