J&K’s Sumitpal enters National Tennis QFs

JAMMU, Jan 23: Defeating Badola Mritunjay of Uttrakhand in a tough contest, the Jammu and Kashmir tennis star, Sumitpal Singh entered the quarterfinals of the VITS All India Lawn Tennis National Series at PBR Vishvodaya Institute of Technology and Science, Nellore, Kavali in Andhra Pradesh.
Sumitpal outplayed his rival in the third round by (6-2, 2-6, 7-6) to seal berth in the quarterfinals.
Earlier, in the first round, Sumitpal got better of Dheeraj KS in an easy contest by (6-1, 6-0), while in the in the second round, he prevailed over Anuj Malik of Haryana by (6-2, 6-2).
In doubles event, Sumitpal alongwith his partner Badola reached the semifinal by defeating the duo of Sankineni Durgaand and Gunupati Gaurav of Andhra Pradesh by (6-2, 6-3) in the quarterfinals.
