JAMMU, Nov 23: Sumitpal Singh and Prinkle Singh of Jammu and Kashmir entered into the semifinals of singles and doubles events of ITF respectively at All Assam Tennis Association Stadium, Express Highway, Guwahati.
After a bye in first round, Sumitpal defeated Akshit Aggarwal by 6-4, 6-2 in the second round and Bikramjeet Singh Bajwa in the third round by 7-5, 6-3.
In the main draw, Sumitpal defeated Abhimanyu Reddy, third seed of the tournament in straight sets by 6-4, 6-2.
In pre-quarterfinals, he drubbed Gomel of Manipur by 6-1, 6-4 and in quarterfinal, Sumitpal got better of Tatakonda of Andhra Pradesh by 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles, sumitpal and Gomel of Manipur prevailed over the duo of Ashutosh Tiwari and Dron Walia to sail into pre-quarterfinals.
Prinkle Singh, sister of Sumitpal Singh also reached semifinals in doubles event in this tournament.
