J&K’s Sumitpal sparkles in National Tennis Tourney

JAMMU, May 16: Promising tennis player of Jammu and Kashmir, Sumitpal Singh entered into the semifinals in singles and the finals in doubles Under-14 boys category in All India Tennis Association Open Ranking National Series Tournament at Prec Tennis Academy Andheri West Mumbai in Maharashtra, today.
Sumitpal, 4th seed in Under-14 category defeated Faisal Quqmar of Rajasthan in a tough contest by (2-1) sets, while in pre-quarterfinal, Sumitpal defeated Adil Kalyanpur of Karnataka in straight sets by (6 – 1, 7 – 5).
In Under-16 age group, Sumitpal defeated Ryan Pandole of Maharashtra by (4 – 6, 6 – 1, 7 -6, 8 – 6), while in second round Sumitpal drubbed Dhunal Kargil of Maharashtra by (6 – 1, 6 – 1) and in semifinal of doubles Sumitpal alongwith his partner Faisal Quamar of Rajasthan defeated Vikas Singh of West Bengal and Badola of Uttrakhand by (7 -5, 7 – 5)
Earlier, in the doubles quarterfinal, the duo defeated Bantia of pune and Adil Kalyanpur of Karnataka by (7 -6, 7 – 6).
