JAMMU, May 7: A deputation of youth wing of JK Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) led by its president RC Sharma met the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jammu South Kulbhushan Khajuria in his office chamber and discussed the issues related to DPs of 1947.
The deputation comprised of Niranjan Singh, Swarn Lal, Mohinder Sharma, Iqbal Singh Iqbal and Parveen Raina.
While elaborating the problems being faced by the family members of the deceased DPs during the process of survivorship or Virasat Intqal, Mr Sharma said that clause 15(B) of allotment of land to Displaced Persons rules 1954 is being violated by some of the Revenue officers while in process of survivorship after the death of actual allottee. The concerned Revenue officers also harass the married girls of the deceased DP by including the names in the allotted land.
He said that clause 15 (B) sub clause {(2)} clearly says as “If an allottee dies, his interest in the allotted land shall devolve on other members of his family in whose favour allotment of land has been originally made or regularized under these rules and on those who have become members of the family by way of marriage, birth or adoption after such allotment excluding those who may have died earlier or may have left the family on account of marriage or adoption.”
After hearing the deputationists, the SDM issued a circular to all Tehsildars falling under his domain including Tehsildar Bahu, South Jammu, Bishnah, Mandal and Arnia and asked them for necessary action and compliance.
