JKSACS organizes HIV/ AIDS Awareness programme

JAMMU, Oct 1: J&K State AIDS Prevention & Control Society (JKSACS) organized an HIV/AIDS Awareness programme in collaboration with in District Jail, Ambphalla for the Jail inmates.
The programme began with an introduction from the Superintendent of Jail  Harish Kotwal, who briefed the jail inmates about the importance of holding the AIDS Awareness programme inside the jail premises. Such programmes are being organized on a regular basis for the Jail inmates under the able guidance of  S.K. Mishra,  Director General of Police, Prisons J&K.
Dr. Arti Bakshi, HoD Psychology University of Jammu dwelt in detail about the different aspects of HIV/AIDS in a simple but impressive manner.  She interacted with the jail inmates and clarified their doubts regarding HIV/AIDS.  The interactive session which followed was very informative and educative in which the officers of J&K State AIDS Control Society also provided information regarding the facilities and services being provided by the Government to the common masses free of cost.  They also complimented the staff of the jail under supervision of Superintendent Jail for very lively and congenial atmosphere in premises of the Jail.
About 160 Jail inmates and Officers/Officials were imparted training/awareness on different aspects of HIV/AIDS.  Dr. Harinder Singh Bedi, Dental Surgeon and the Medical Officers of the District Jail also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the consequences of the disease.
