JAMMU, Dec 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council has announced its fencing teams for the 35th Senior National Fencing Championship (Boys & Girls) 2024-25. The screening process was conducted at Indoor Fencing Hall, M.A. Stadium Jammu, where 22 players (12 boys and 10 girls) were selected to represent the UT. The selected team will travel to Kannur, Kerala, to participate in the National Championship, which will take place from December 31 to January 3, 2025.
The boys’ team consists of: Vishal Thapar, Sagar Sahi, Udhayveer Singh Chandel, Suryansh Sharma, Sufyan Waheed Sohil, Sohit Thakur, Ajay Kumar, Shivansh Kapoor, Pranay Singh, Chahat Singh, Shresth Dogra, and Ram Paul. The girls’ team includes: Shreya Gupta, Rishika Khajuria, Kritarthi Kotwal, Chhavi Sharma, Apsha Gulzar, Pihul Rajput, Shilpa Khajuria, Riya Bakshi, Vanya Gupta and Mansi Sharma.
The screening process was overseen by a distinguished committee, including Balwinder Singh, Divisional Sports Officer (J), Krupali Singh, Javed Ahmed, Maninder Pal Singh and others. The selected players will depart for Kerala on December 27, 2024, to compete in the prestigious championship.
