SRINAGAR, Feb 28: The weeklong alpine Ski Course, organized by the J&K Ski and Mountaineering Association concluded at Gulmarg today.
The Association trained 10 children of Green Valley Educational Institute to basic Ski Course.
The training was imparted to the children by Muhammad Yusuf, retired Ski Coach of Kashmir University.
“The main aim of the course was to inculcate spirit of adventure among the budding children of the school,” said the Principal of GVE Institute.
“The participants were imparted the basic skills of snow skiing and were exposed to adventure. The students showed keen interest in this challenging sport,” said president JKSMA.
On the concluding function, president, Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir, Rauf Tramboo awarded participation certificates to the successful students.
The students were also presented the literature regarding preservation of environment which the Association has brought out on the occasion of Celebration of International Mountain Day.
While speaking on the occasion, Tramboo said that giving impetus to adventure activities is the need of the hour.
JKSMA expressed its gratitude to the Tourism Department, J&K Tourism Development Corporation, Gulmarg Development Authority and J&K State Cable Car Corporation for extending their assistance in making the event a success.
