JAMMU, July 26: In a joint Press Conference, Vikramjeet Singh, president Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council Employees Union (J&KSSCEU) and Rajinder Kumar, vice president, J&K National Trade Union Front projected demands of the Council employees at its Union Office, MA Stadium, here today.
Expressing shock over the sudden death of Surjeet Singh, who recently died due to an electric shock in his quarter at MA Stadium, the Union said that the quarters are in shabby condition and despite repeated requests, no renovation work has taken place.
The Union demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Surjeet Singh, besides benefits under welfare fund and a job to one of the members of his family under SRO-43.
The members said atleast 25 employees are putting up in these quarters and HRA is deducted from them regularly, but these employees are waiting in the wings for their allotment.
The Union appealed the Government to grant pension benefits to the State Sports Council employees as soon as possible as the employees have been waiting for the same since the establishment of the Council in 1964.
The Union further said that Sports Council Employees Welfare Committee was formed at the State Level, without any member from J&KSSCE Union, which otherwise is the need of the hour to give representation to both the regions.
The Union appealed the Government to redress their problems at an earliest and not to force them to take the path of agitation.
Prominent among others who attended the Press Conference were Rajinder Singh, Vijay Choudhary, Jagdish Kumar, Iqbal Singh and Onkar Singh.
