JAMMU, Mar 19:  To further intensify the sanitation drive and to avoid spreading of Coronavirus today Avny Lavasa, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Tinna Mahajan, Secretary, JMC along with Councillor W.No. 53, Jyoti Devi took stock of the areas viz. RBI Guest House, Sai Palace, Trikuta apartment, Basant Vihar, Trikuta Nagar Extension & adjoining localities.
The Commissioner issued on spot directions to the concerned officer for complete sanitation of these localities as well as Thermal Fogging and spray of Sodium Hypo Chloride solution including religious places (Mandir/Masjid/Gurudwara/Churches).
The Commissioner directed the Chief Transport Officer for proper de-silting of nallahs at Kunj Vihar Lane Sector 4, Nanak Nagar etc. and it was informed by the CTO that total of 410 MT of silt was removed from seasonal nallahs including 30 MT of garbage under special cleanliness and sanitation drive was lifted from these areas apart from routine sanitation work.
During the drive nallah passing through Sai Palace, Trikuta Nagar was also cleaned. In total 12 tippers; 5 JCBs; 35 labourers were engaged for nallah desiltings. Moreover, 135 SKCs also worked during the entire sanitation drive.
The Commissioner further appealed the general public to come forward and join hands with Jammu Municipal Corporation in maintaining proper sanitation and as a preemptive measure against Coronavirus as without the help of citizens it is hard to achieve the goal of Clean Jammu and Green Jammu.
During the drive Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer and District Malaria Officer and other officials of JMC were also present.
