JMC organises ‘Run for Cleanliness’

JAMMU, Aug 12: To celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on 75th Independence Day, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today organized a ‘Run for Cleanliness’ from MA Stadium.
The event was attended by JMC Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta; Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma; Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Raghav Langer; ADGP, Jammu, Mukesh Singh; Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa; SSP, Jammu, Chandan Kohli and Chairmen of Health-Sanitation and Social Justice and Swachh Bharat Standing Committees.
The motive of the run was to motivate people to avoid plastic use and replace it with jute or paper bags.
Speaking on the occasion, JMC Commissioner, said: “JMC is putting its best effort to convince public to avoid plastic products.”
The Mayor said that need of the hour is to aware general masses about effects of plastic on environment as well as on humans.
He also said that JMC shall fine defaulters using plastic.
JMC Councillors-Amit Gupta, Gopal Gupta and Dinesh Gupta; Joint Commissioner (A), Pankaj Gupta; Joint Commissioner (Enforcement), Hitesh Gupta; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sudhir Bali; Health Officer JMC, Dr. Sanjogita Sudan and others were also present on the occasion.
