JAMMU, Dec 1: The UT Government today accorded powers of Administrators to Commissioners of Jammu and Srinagar Municipal Corporations for a term of two years or until establishment of the Corporation, whichever is earlier.
“The Commissioners will exercise functions and duties of the Corporations under Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act,” an order issued today by Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Prashant Goyal, said.
The powers were necessitated as the Corporations of Jammu and Srinagar have ceased to exist after completion of their five years term and in absence of fresh elections to them.
