JAMMU, Oct 30: GNDU Amritsar defeated University of Jammu by (2-0) in the ongoing North Zone Inter-University Badminton Championship, being hosted by Jammu University, here. In other matches of women section, Aligarh Muslim University defeated Panjab University Chandigarh by (2-0), Delhi University trounced PTU Jalandhar by (2-0) and MDU Rohtak defeated Punjabi University, Patiala by (2-0).
In men’s section, PU Chandigarh drubbed HPU Shimla by (3-1), Kurukshetra University prevailed over GNDU Amritsar by (3-1), LPU Phagwara outplayed UTU Dehradun by (3-2) and MDU Rohtak beat Delhi University by (3-0).
Present on the occasion were Balbir Singh, Secretary, Jammu District Badminton Association, B K Magotra, H S Chib, Dr. Brij Baloria, Romesh Sharma, Ravish Vaid, P D Singh, Jai Bharat, Gautam Sharma and Vikesh Sharma. The matches were officiated by Krishan Gopal (Chief Referee), Jyoti Rajput, Shakeel Ahmed, J S Arneja, Anil Gurkha, Sunil Gurkha, Vikram Jamwal, Balbir Singh Jamwal and Amit Sharma,.
All the matches were played under the supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
