JAMMU, Oct 9: Jodhamal Public School hosted a two-day Inter-School Swimming Competition under the aegis of the Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex, featuring 14 schools and 127 students. Competing in the under-14 and under-17 categories, participants displayed exceptional talent in backstroke, freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, relay, and medley relay events. The competition was vibrant, with intense matches and nail-biting finishes.
The event was inaugurated by Ved Prakash, Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports, with Dr. Vikesh Kour, Principal of Doon International School, and Rajesh Sambyal, Physical Education Master, DYSSO, Gandhi Nagar, as guests of honour. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Ramandeep Singh Soodan, President of the Swimming Association, J&K, and Bharat Kumar Sharma, Secretary General of the Swimming Association, J&K.
Jodhamal Public School emerged as the overall champion with an impressive tally of 12 gold, 13 silver and 4 bronze medals. Among the notable winners were Anahita, Advait, Hitanshi Yadav, Pragnay Sharma, and Aayansh Gupta in the under-14 category, and Kartikaye Choudhary, MD Ibrahim, Tanisha Jaggi and Prabhdeep Singh in the under-17 category.
The event was overseen by Harpreet Bhalla, Physical Education Teacher, and Davinder Singh Jamwal, Swimming Coach, with guidance from the school’s swimming coach Pooja Bassan. The school’s trustee, Nandan Kuthiala, Director Arti Kuthiala, Principal Girish Kumar, and Vice Principal Amita Arora applauded the participants for their sportsmanship and thanked the jury for ensuring the competition’s success.
