Jora, Lone among several crorepatis

JAMMU, Nov 3: Even as nominations were yet to close for first out of five phase of polling in Assembly elections, several crorepatis candidates including two sitting Ministers have already joined the electoral fray.
Urban Development Minister and two times Congress MLA from Leh Assembly segment, Nawang Rigzin Jora has 11.83 lakh worth movable assets on his name including an Innova and a Maruti car while his wife has Rs 10.05 lakh worth movable assets including jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh. His son has Rs 16.49 lakh cash in SBI and Rs 8.11 lakh in HDFC bank account at Leh.
Jora has 2.69 crores worth immovable assets while his wife has Rs 1.02 crores worth similar assets. Jora owns a residential building at Leh and an apartment at Rajender Nagar, New Delhi jointly with his wife while his wife has shown the residential house at Sidhra Jammu.
The assets have been revealed in mandatory affidavits filed by the candidates before the Returning Officers.
As per the affidavit filed by Higher Education Minister and NC candidates from Sonawari in Bandipora district, Mohammad Akbar Lone today (November 3, 2014), he is 67 years old while as per the affidavit filed by him in 2008 elections (October 29, 2008) he was 63-years old.
In his affidavit, Lone has revealed that he has 95 kanals of agriculture land, out of which 20 kanals have been purchased by him in 1995 for Rs 10 lakh and 70 are inherited. The total cost of the land has been shown as Rs 5.7 crore.
The NC leader has Rs 40, 000 as cash in hand and his wife Rs 10, 000 and she has jewelery worth Rs 5 lakh. He has Rs 7.5 lakh in three accounts with Rs 2.5 lakh as an outstanding loan.
Lone has two houses at Naid Khai worth Rs 1 crore, one house at Humana costs Rs 30 lakh and another at Channi in Jammu worth Rs 50 lakh.
As per the affidavit filed in 2008, the NC minister had 120 kanals of land costing Rs 2.3 crore, cash Rs 50, 000. His spouse had Rs 30, 000 cash and one lakh jewellery.
Lone had three double storey houses at Naid Khai worth Rs 50 lakh in 2008, a house at Bemina worth Rs 50 lakh and house at Channi worth Rs 20 lakh.
BJP candidate for Doda Assembly seat, Shakti Raj Parihar is the richest among those whose affidavits have so far been uploaded by the Election Commission. Shakti has Rs 3.05 crores worth movable assets and his wife Rs 43.31 lakh. Shakti has Rs 6 lakh cash in hand and his wife Rs 2 lakh. He has over Rs 30 lakh worth investments in banks and his wife about Rs 17 lakh. He has been paying Rs 6.5 lakh worth insurance premium. His spouse has half kg gold valued at Rs 13.5 lakh.
The BJP candidate has Rs 1.03 crores worth immovable asserts and his wife Rs 6.35 lakh.
NC candidate from Doda and former Minister Khalid Najeeb Suhrawardhy had Rs 63.31 lakh worth immovable assets on his name including residential house and two shops at Doda City and agriculture land at village Koti in Doda. Khalid has Rs 2.04 lakh worth movable assets while his wife has Rs 12.73 lakh worth similar assets.
BJP candidate from Leh Chering Dorjay, former CEC LAHDC, Leh and MLA in 1996-2002 Assembly has Rs 2.25 crores worth immovable assets on his name. Apart from this, he has Rs 19.77 lakh worth movable assets including a Toyota Liva vehicle.
