JSS excels at CBSE Child Protection & Legal Literacy Program

JAMMU, Oct 22: Jammu Sanskriti School (JSS), Jammu participated in a one-day Launch and Capacity Building Program organized by CBSE at the National Science Centre, New Delhi.
The event, titled “Promoting Child Protection, Legal Literacy (The POCSO Act), and Psychological Well-Being: Emerging Challenges; Promoting Best Practices,” aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of child protection laws and psychological well-being among adolescents.
Representing the school, Adolescents Peer Educators Ashutosh Sharma and Tanmay Kandal, both 9th graders, along with Anupama Sharma, TGT IT, showcased their initiatives in a dedicated stall. The exhibition highlighted the students’ efforts in promoting child protection under the POCSO Act 2012, the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, and child rights through interactive sessions, street plays, poster-making, and case studies.
The event was graced by CBSE officials, including Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India; Rahul Singh, Chairperson of CBSE; Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director of Skill Education and Training at CBSE; Dr. Praggya M. Singh, Director of Academics at CBSE; and Dr. Jatinder Nagpal, Convener, Senior Psychiatrist, Life Skills, and School Mental Health Expert, Program Director at Expressions India. Their presence underscored the critical importance of child protection and legal literacy in schools.
Sarika Sharma, Coordinator of the Peer Educators Program, ensured the students’ active participation in role plays, case studies, jingles, and psychometric games, demonstrating their enthusiasm and dedication to promoting child rights and well-being.
Rohini Aima, Principal and Vice-Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School, asserted, “This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for our learners, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to become proactive advocates for child protection and legal literacy.”
