JAMMU, June 15: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) was held here, today under the chairmanship of Shadi Lal Pandita President, JTC & SKF.
Various problems faced by the Kashmiri migrants were discussed threadbare in the meeting.
While addressing the participants Shadi Lal Pandita said that the Government had sanctioned ex-gratia for the gutted houses in Kashmir valley but only half of the ex-gratia was released in favour of the victims and despite lapse of more than 28 years the remaining ex-gratia has not been released in their favour which has put them to further sufferings. He demanded that the Government should ensure release of the balance ex-gratia amount to the victims at an earliest.
Pandita further demanded compensation for the property losses to the migrants for the past 28 years. A demand has also been made for grant of compensation to those youth who have crossed over age limits and are still unemployed, enabling them to manage their own earnings by setting up their own business activities.
The previous Coalition Government of Congress and National Conference had assured that 10,000 posts will be created for absorbing migrant youth in Government departments but till date nothing in this regard has been done.
