JAMMU, July 30: The agitation launched by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) entered 302th day today with protesting activists of JTC and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) warning Government not to test their patience and settle the demands of the displaced people without further delay.
Addressing the protesters, Shadi Lal Pandita president, JTC and SKF demanded that two BHK quarters be constructed fro migrants in Valley instead of one.
He reiterated 50,000 families are ready to return to Kashmir but there is an urgent need to build three townships in Valley near Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag. He urged the Government after the return of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley the monthly free ration and relief should continue to those relief holders who have no source of livelihood till they are properly rehabilitated.
Pandita said Kashmiri Pandits have suffered loss of land and other properties which is worth crores of rupees and every family should be given compensation immediately.
He also urged the Government to give political and minority status to Kashmiri Pandits. Raj Kumar Tickoo unit president of Jagti township JTC appealed to the Lt Governor to solve the growing problems of Kashmiri Pandits especially relief holders as soon as possible. He said that the prices of food items, petrol, diesel, gas cylinder and more living necessities have gone up due to which the relief holders are unable to make their both ends meet.
He demanded increasing the monthly cash relief of relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000, package of 20,000 jobs for unemployed youth out of which 5,000 Class Fourth posts be given to unemployed youth who have passed matriculation and later they could not continue their education.
