JAMMU, Feb 21: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) was held under the chairmanship of its president Shadi Lal Pandita at Jagti township today.
Addressing the members Pandita said that the representatives of his organisation met the Relief Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants and the Deputy Commissioner Relief Rehabilitation Migrants during their visit to Jagti township.
The Relief Commissioner was informed by the members of JTC that they are protesting for 499 consecutive days and demanding that the relief of the migrant relief holders should be increased from Rs 13,000, to Rs 25,000 who said that the demand is in active consideration of the Government. The members also asked them the relief for the month of February to be given to relief holders before the 25th of this month on the festival of Maha Shivratri. They demanded that every facility be provided to the migrants on the holy festival. The Relief Rehabilitation Commissioner said that they are aware of the difficulties of the migrants and all efforts will be made for their redressal.
Pandita demanded employment package for unemployed youth, compensation for left over properties , ex-gratia for gutted and damaged houses and other business establishments of migrants in Valley, settlement of migrants in Valley in three townships and reservation of five assembly and one Parliament seat for them.
