JAMMU, Nov 28: Member of Parliament (MP) from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal (JTN) raised the issues of air services and its exorbitant airfare in Leh-Delhi sector of Ladakh and asked the Government about the proposal to operate civil aircraft during night time at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche (KBR) Airport, Leh to provide frequency of flight.
In reply to the question raised by JTN MP Ladakh, Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (IC) in the Ministry of Civil Aviation stated in the Parliament that KBR Airport, Leh is a Defence Airport, where Airports Authority of India (AAI) maintains a Civil Enclave. “It is up to the airline operator to provide air services to a specific place depending upon the traffic demand and commercial viability”, he added. “AAI has not received any proposal to operate civil aircraft during night time at KBR Leh by any schedule airlines operator”, said the Civil Aviation Minister.
Earlier MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal called on the Civil Aviation Minister and submitted proposal demanding operate civil aircraft during night time at KBR, Leh but the proposal for the same has to be submitted by any schedule airlines operator.
