JAMMU, Feb 28: University of Jammu bagged Overall Trophy in the mega National Integration Camp, which concluded here today at JU.
K K Sharma, Advisor to Lt Governor, was chief guest on the occasion and he laid stress on importance of National Integration Camp in promoting the spirit of universal peace , harmony and brotherhood. Besides, he also advised all the participants to take the message of national integration to their respective States and Union Territories. Advisor Sharma expressed satisfaction that the University of Jammu is attaining new heights under the present leadership.
Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor JU , in his presidential address, said that India is going to be the youngest nation by 2030 and youth of our country should unite to wage war against social evils and poverty and there is a common thread of nationalism, pluralism and humanism which keeps us united.
The results of Inter-State Competitions of National Integration Camp were declared on the occasion. The participants from Assam, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana and Uttarakhand were also felicitated based on their performance on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the seven day camp, the contingents participated in Best out of Waste, symposium, elocution, group song group dance, solo dance, solo singing, slogan, drawing, poster making, Rangoli and skit events.
Dr Satinder Kumar dwelt in detail about the events held during the weeklong festival and the objectives achieved. Prof Naresh Padha, Dean Research Studies, Prof Rajnikant, Controller of Examination JU; Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Director CDC and Kamal Kispotta, Youth Officer NSS Regional Directorate New Delhi were special guests on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the participants. Proceedings of the programme were conducted by NSS volunteer Jasbir . The National Integration Camp was coordinated under the supervision of NSS Coordinator Dr Satinder Kumar, Programme officers Dr Hema Gandotra, Dr Seema Rohmetra, Dr Savita Nayyar and Dr Meghna Dhar along with College Programme officers Prof Manmohan Singh , Dr Rakesh Sharma, Prof Yashpaul and Prof Rituraj Sharma and NSS volunteers.
