JAMMU, Nov 27: The bowling quartet of skipper Daud Iqbal Baba, Rajesh, Raj Kumar Bakshi and Ameet Targotra plotted collapse of formidable Patiala University team to guide University of Jammu Employees Team to the semifinals of the All India Vice Chancellors T20 Cup Cricket Tournament at Gorakhpur, today.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal match, winning the toss and batting first, Patiala University scored a paltry total of 88 runs, because all the bowlers from JU bowled with disciplined line and length. Prithpal and Kumarjeet contributed 35 and 17 runs respectively. For JU, Daud Iqbal captured 3 wickets, while Ameet, Rajesh and Raj Kumar claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, JU chased the target easily by losing 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets. Daud Iqbal (37) was the top scorer, while Ameet Targotra and Raj Kumar Bakshi contributed 29 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For Patiala, Jasbir and Parminder took one wicket each. Manager of JU team, Sunil Sahi lauded the efforts of all the players for this all important victory.
