JAMMU, Nov 20: Jammu University Employees Cricket team thrashed Chandigarh University by a big margin of 48 runs to register their second consecutive win in the prestigious All India Vice Chancellors T20 Cup Cricket Tournament at Gorakhpur University today.
Earlier, batting first, Jammu University defeated University scored a fighting total of 141 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Niranjan Singh was the top scorer with 31 runs, while Vishal Sudan contributed 25 runs and Raj Kumar Bakshi chipped in with 19 runs. For Chandigarh, Vijay Dogra bagged 3 wickets, while Naveen and Rajesh claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Chandigarh University was bundled out for a paltry total of 93 runs, thus lost the match by 48 runs. Rahul Pathania and Ashwani scored 22 and 12 runs respectively. For Jammu University, skipper Daud Iqbal took 4 important wickets, while Bhalwant Singh bagged 3 wickets. Pawan Singh also picked 2 wickets and Rajesh claimed one. Bhalwant Singh of Jammu University was declared as man of the match.
In the next match, Jammu University will take on Mumbai University on November 23.
The Jammu University team is being accompanied by Sunil Sahi and Manoj Chouhan as manager and assistant manager respectively.
