JAMMU, May 18: Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu organized its Annual Campus Sports Day-cum-Prize Distribution Function at University Sports Stadium.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest, while Prof Dhian S Bhau, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, Dirtector, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education Department presided over the function. Prof Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Jigar Mohammad, Dean Research Studies, Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu, Jai Kumar Sharma, Director Colleges Development, Sanjeev Mahajan, Controller of Examinations, Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Prof JP Jooral, President JUTA, Prof Kulwant Singh, Department of Law, Prof Parikshat S Manhas, Director, SHTM, Prof Jasbir Singh, Provost Hostels, (Boys) Prof Versha Mehta, Provost Hostels (Girls) Prof Meenakashi Kelim, Director DIQA, Prof VD Singh, Director DDE and Vivek Slathia, President JUOWA, President JUNTEU, were also present.
Prof RD Sharma in his address said that Chairman, Campus Sports Committee and the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education is providing every facility to the students for various sports activities. He also congratulated the prize winners by winning awards and medals in the forthcoming Inter-University Zonal and National Sports events, and students other then the sports person should be encouraged to participate.
The prizes were awarded to the winners and runners-up teams of the PG Departments in different games which were conducted during the year by the Directorate of Sports. In addition to the above, the Track Suits were awarded to the players of PG Departments who represented the University in the various Inter-University Tournaments and competitions during the session 2015-16.
Some of the interesting Athletic events were also conducted. Dogri, Kashmiri Folk Dances and Punjabi Bhangra were also presented by the students of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Earlier, Prof Dhian S Bhau delivered the welcome address, whileas in the end, Gagan Kumar, Incharge PTI Campus presented vote of thanks.
The event was managed by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Cricket Coach, Ravish Viad, Table Tennis Coach, Vikas Karlopia, Volleyball Coach, PD Singh, Jai Bharat, among others members of the Campus Sports Committee, Deans of the faculties, Heads of the Teaching Departments, Faculty members, Officers, HS Chib, Retd Physical Director, Mahesh Sharma, Physical Director, staff, Scholars, Students and sports persons were also present on this occasion.
