JAMMU, Nov 27: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, hosted the Inter-Collegiate Kho-Kho (Women) Tournament and the Inter-Collegiate Judo (Men & Women) Championship 2024-25, showcasing remarkable sportsmanship and talent among students from various affiliated colleges.
The Kho-Kho tournament saw thrilling matches as teams displayed agility and teamwork. In standout performances, the PG Department defeated GDC Gaghwal by 16 points, Dogra Degree College edged past GDC Marh by 3 points, GCW Udhampur overcame GCW Kathua by 14 points, and GDC Reasi secured a narrow victory over GDC Poonch by just 1 point. Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, inaugurated the tournament and inspired participants with his motivational address, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and fair play as the cornerstones of sports.
The Judo Championship, held at the University Gymnasium Hall, featured intense competition across various weight categories. Trikuta Degree College emerged as the overall champion with 20 points, while GDC Marh claimed the runner-up position with 10 points. Notable gold medal winners included Eshaan Saini (60kg), Vishwas Jamwal (66 kg), Jai Kumar Singh (73 kg), Gourav Bhagat (81 kg), Kapil Singh (90 kg), and Brahamjot Singh (100 kg). The athletes demonstrated exceptional skill, making the championship a resounding success.
