JU hosts Kho-Kho, Grappling, Badminton Inter-Collegiate C’ship

JAMMU, Dec 2: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, organized the Inter-Collegiate Championships for Kho-Kho (Men), Grappling (Men), and Badminton (Men & Women) 2024-25, witnessing spirited participation from colleges across the region.
The tournaments were inaugurated by Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, who interacted with players and encouraged them to uphold discipline, teamwork, and fair play. He emphasized the role of sports in fostering unity and personal development.
The Kho-Kho Championship saw thrilling matches where GDC Doda defeated GCET Jammu by 6 points, PG Department JU outplayed GDC Marh by 13 points, and GDC Kathua secured a 10-point victory over GDC Paloura.
The matches were officiated by Dheeraj Sharma, Palbinder Singh, Pooja Sharma, Jagdev Singh, Anil Kumar and Gagan Kumar.
In the Grappling Championship, outstanding performances included gold medal won by Mohd. Saleem (GDC Kathua) in the 54 KG category, Eshaan Saini (GDC Marh) in 58 KG, Gagan (GDC Basohli) in 62 KG Azad (GDC Reasi) in 66 KG, Munish (PG Deptt. JU) in 70 KG, Shubam (GDC Paloura) in 74 KG, Karnail (GDC Reasi) in 78 KG, Gourav i(PG Deptt JU) in 82 KG, Adnan Farooq (GDC Doda) clinched the 86 KG gold, while Vikrant (GDC Paloura) secured gold in 92 KG category.
In the Badminton Championship, GDC Mendhar defeated B.N. College of Nursing Jammu by 2-0, K.C. Law College outplayed GDC Marh by 2-1, Dogra Degree College overcame GDC Billawar by 2-0, BDC Udhampur beat GDC Bishnah by 2-0, and GDC Doda triumphed over GDC Ramnagar by 2-0.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Jeevan Lal, Arjun Sharma and Ritik Jandial. The championships highlighted the University’s commitment to promoting sportsmanship and excellence, leaving participants and spectators inspired.
