JU shines in 30th National Inter-University Youth Festival

JAMMU, Feb 17: University of Jammu  achieved a rare distinction by claiming prizes in all the events it  participated in the 30th National Inter-University Youth Festival held at Devi Ahilya University Indore from February 12-16, 2015.
The 28-member strong contingent of University of Jammu was led by Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare with Dr Kavita Suri and Dr A. R. Manhas as the Teachers’ Incharge.
The University of Jammu won First Prize in the Installation Event. The Installation team was represented by Jasvinder Singh, Rachita Dutta, Ashima  Sharma and Kaneesh Panotra.
It also won third prize in four other events namely Debate, Indian Classical Solo, Western Solo, Skit and Indian Group Song. In the Western Group Song, the University won the fourth prize. Debate team was represented by Zain ul Abdeen Banday and Sahil Mehta.
The Music team was consisting of Mukteshi Sharma, Sonali Dogra, Sumit Kumar, Rakesh Deol,  Raghav Gupta and Anuradha Sharma.
Mridul Anand, Sanyam Pandoh, Pallvi Kunwar, Sameeta Rana,  Sunidhi Sharma and  Deepika were the members of the skit team. Dr Kuldeep Sharma, Sh Neeraj Verma, Rakesh Anand, Sunil Sharma and Darbari Lal gave the music for the song and skit and Sumit Sharma directed the Skit.
The University of Mumbai lifted the Overall Championship trophy while Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar lifted the Runners’ up trophy.
In Music,  University of Mumbai, Maharashtra bagged 1st prize, while in Dance, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur, MP clinched 1st postion.
In Literary, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, Maharashtra won 1st position, while in Theatre: Mangalore University, Karnataka bagged 1st spot and in Fine Arts, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab claimed the 1st place.
