JAMMU, Oct 24: In a late evening development, the Jammu University today removed the Dean Students Welfare following a controversy over circulation of a unanimous letter against some senior Professors as well as JUTA members and subsequent handing over of the case to Crime Branch.
According to the sources, Prof Pankaj Srivastava of Geology Department is likely to be formally appointed as new Dean Students Welfare replacing Prof N K Tripathi, who had referred the case of unanimous letter to Crime Branch without consulting the Vice-Chancellor and other University authorities.
The University also withdrew the case from Crime Branch.
These actions were taken after the JUTA office bearers and other members lodged a strong protest with the Vice-Chancellor over creating un-necessary controversy over a unanimous letter.
Despite repeated attempts, no university official could be contacted for a comment over the development.
