Jugraj unstoppable in Punjab’s big win

JAMMU, Dec 11: With the entry of Punjab, CRPF, SSB, UP and BSF in the last four stage, the quarterfinals position has been cleared in the ongoing 61st All India Police Hockey Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
Now, in the quarterfinals to be played tomorrow, Tamil Nadu will take on SSB, J&K will lock horns with CISF, Punjab will meet UP and CRPF will face BSF.
Earlier, in the first match played today, Punjab thrashed West Bengal by 11 goals to nil (11-0) in one-sided contest. Jugraj Singh was simply unstoppable in the big win of Punjab over West Bengal as he pelted 8 superb goals with a hat-trick, while Satwinder Singh, Jaskaran Singh and Amandeep Singh netted one goal each. Jugraj in particular was awesome in his moves and displayed soccer skills to a perfection.
In another match, CRPF trounced Karnataka by two goals to nil (2-0) in a tough contest. Namesh Khakha and Amritveer Singh netted one goal each for CRPF, while Uttar Pradesh got better of Chhatisgarh by seven goals to nil (7-0). Shahid Khan pelted 2 goals for UP, while Manish Gupta, Sunil Kumar, Mahende Nath, Lakshmi Narayan and Rakesh Kanojia scored one goal each.
In another match, BSF defeated Bihar by six goals to nil (6-0). Varinder Jit Singh and Parveen Kumar scored 2 goals each, while Manpreet Singh and Mukesh Kumar netted one goal each.
SSB outplayed Maharashtra in a thrilling contest by four goals to three (4-3). For SSB, Ajit Singh netted 2 goals, while H Surachandra and Kishor Lakra scored one goal each. Mukund Raj scored 2 goals, while Ganesh Giri netted one goal for Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, in the last match of the day, CISF prevailed upon Andhra Pradesh by five goals to two (5-2). Cyril Ekka pelted 2 goals, while Sanjeet Singh, Compal Lakra and Prateek Kumar Kumar netted one goal each. Sandeep Raju and Krishna Kishore scored one goal each for AP.
The matches were officiated by Virender Kumar, Vijay Kishore, Jagjeet Singh Reen, Imtiaz-ud-din, VP Sharma, Tabrez Sher, Anil Kumar, Naveed Zia, Mohd Ameen and Sanjay Bhatia.
