JAMMU, June 1: The June 2023 Term-end Examinations of the Indira Gandhi National Open University for various Academic Programmes offered by the University commenced today.
The University has established 841 Examination Centres, including 20 overseas Centres and 37 Centres in Jails for jail inmates. Under Jammu Region, 32 Examination Centres have been established including four Examination Centres in District Jail Kathua, District Jail Ambphalla, District Jail Udhampur and Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu exclusively for Jail inmates and also one Examination Centre in Northern Command Udhampur exclusively for Army personnel.
A total of 33,974 eligible students have filled their examination forms under the Regional Centre Jammu who are appearing in the exams in around 1,91,181 sittings. The examinations are being conducted in two sessions every working day. The morning session would be from 10AM till 1PM and evening session would be from 2PM to 5PM. There would be no examination on Sundays and Govt gazetted holidays.
Mobile phones and any other electronic gadgets are not permitted inside the examination halls.
Meanwhile, Regional Director Dr Sandeep Gupta paid a surprise visit to the Examination Centres at KC College of Education, Akhnoor Road, Jammu and Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Govt MAM College Jammu. Dr Vikram Singh, Assistant Regional Director visited the Exam Centre at General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi. Deputy Registrar, S Tejinder Pal Singh visited the Exam Centres in Samba Kathua belt.
The Flying Squad teams expressed their satisfaction about the conduct of examinations in a fair and smooth manner across the region. “The local administration has been kind and cooperative to deploy security personnel at the Exam Centres for maintaining law and order and the Postal authorities are cooperating by way of accepting the sealed parcels from our Exam Centres beyond the working hours,” said Dr Sandeeep Gupta, Regional Director.
