JAMMU, Aug 20: Riding on a splendid show of skills and mental strength, the Indian Wushu team has clinched nine medals in the 11th Asian Junior Wushu Championship at Macau, China.
The Asian championship was organised between 14 to 21 August in Macau, China where the Junior Indian Wushu team won two Gold, one Silver and six Bronze medals.
The list of medallists were Ramesh Munda (42 kg) Gold Medal, Dhruv (48 kg) Gold Medal, Rahul Kumar (48 kg) Silver medal, Jeetish Singh (52 kg) Bronze medal, Tanish Nagar (56 kg) Bronze medal, Nikhil (Taolu-Bronze medal), Linthoingambi Latonjam (Taolu Bronze Medal), Anirudh (80kg) Bronze Medal and Aman secured Bronze medal.
“Wushu is doing splendid job at International podium, last year Junior Indian Wushu team bagged three Gold medals in the World Championship and Senior Wushu team bagged two Gold medals,”National Chief Coach of Indian Wushu team and Dronacharya Awardee, Kuldeep Handoo told Excelsior.
Handoo asserts that Wushu in Jammu and Kashmir hold the highest position among all sports because it is the only game to have won medals at the Asian Games and World Championship. Wushu is regarded as a more promising sport in terms of medal prospects.
