JAMMU, Jan 22: Junior XI Kathua emerged winners of the Elite Premier League by defeating Elite Blues in the final summit of Under-19 Elite Premier League (40 Overs) and lifted title trophy, organized by Trikuta Cricket Academy at Railway Ground, here today.
Elite Blues won the toss and elected to bat first. Elite Blues scored 120 runs in 27 overs. Avinash scored 27 runs, Dhruv Parmar made 24 runs and Manitvya scored unbeaten 12 runs. For Kathua, Manit was the wrecker-in-chief who took five wickets with a hat trick, whereas Ritesh bagged three wickets.
In reply, Kathua XI chased the target by losing only six wickets in 26 overs, thus won the match with four wickets. Akhil made highest 32 runs, Varun scored 25 runs and Ritesh contributed 16 runs. For Elite Blues, Yuvraj took three wickets and Abhay bagged two wickets.
Man of the match was awarded to Manit of Junior XI Kathua, whereas best batsman awarded went to Yuvraj Saini of Elite Blues and best fielder and best wicketkeeper award went to Manitvya Sharma and Sarvan Gupta of Elite Blues respectively. Man of the series award went to Ritesh of Kathua.
Vinod Khajuria was the chief guest of the closing ceremony and Sudheer Singh, Ved Prakash Meena and Sandeep Bharti were guests of honour.
Former players of Trikuta Club including Surjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Roopinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Kewal also graced the function.
The tournament was organized by Trikuta Cricket Academy under the overall supervision of Balbir Singh and Sukomal Ganguly in association with Elite Club. The officials of the match were Deepak Singh, Pankaj Garnal and Sujit Kumar.
