JAMMU, Jan 1: Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) has demanded requisite infrastructure and facilities in Central Library of the university for students and scholars.
Talking to media persons, JURSEA president Sukhdev Singh alleged non availability of facilities in the Central Library. He said that the heaters, installed inside the Central Library, were non functional and very less in number. “Since the temperature is very low these days, it is the duty of university to provide heating system for the students who are preparing for ongoing exams and various competitive exams,” he said.
The JURSEA president lamented that the students studying through distant education mode were deprived of the facilities of the central library. “The university is itself creating difference between regular and distant mode students and this will not be tolerated as the students in distant mode too have to prepare for exams and other competitive exams,” he explained and also raised the issue of Smart Card, for which the university has collected fee during admission time.
Sunny Babber, general secretary JURSEA, alleged that students and scholars have highlighted their problems before the authorities several times but most of their issues remained unaddressed. He also demanded that JU should take initiative for re-opening of sub centre of the Central Library, which is located in Vinayak Bazaar and is lying closed for the last nine years.
The JURSEA also demanded new edition books to the scholars and connecting departmental libraries with central Library through internet.
Among those who were present in the press-conference, included, Jyoti Kumari, Manzoor Ahmed, Zulfi Singh and Gopal Singh.
