UDHAMPUR, July 8: Udhampur Kabaddi Club organized a two-day open Kabaddi Championship for the Junior and Senior category at the Indoor complex of Subash Stadium here today.
Balwant Singh Mankotia, ex-legislature was the chief guest on the occasion and Ramesh Chander Mishra District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur was guest of honour on this occasion. Eleven teams including teams from Jammu, RS Pura, Kathua, Panchari, Chenani, and local clubs have participated in the junior category.
In the tournament Chenani Club defeated KV Club by 33-22 while Kathua Club defeated Garhi Club by 30-26. In 1st semi final match R.S Pura defeated Kathua by 23-16 while in 2nd semi final Udhampur defeated Jammu by 25-23.
Chief guest Balwant Singh Mankotia stressed upon the players to play the game with true sportsmanship and spirit and to take part in sports activities to make themselves physically and mentally fit.
Ashok Kumar Sharma, Vice President, J&K Kabaddi Association, Ramesh Chander, Som Dev Khajuria, Vikas Sharma, Bhoopinder Singh (Commentator), Jatin Sethi, Sanjeev Kr. Khajuria and Anshu Brat Khanna (Coordinator of the tournament) were among those present on this occasion.
All the matches were officiated by a technical panel of experts such as Kulbushan Sharma, Ram Kumar, Sandeep Verma, Ravi Kumar, Anita Sharma and Khushwant Singh.
